I'm a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Counselor, and Birth Educator. I live in the suburbs of Denver with my husband of 15 years, our 3 children, and our dog Beau. We have been through a lot completing our family. My daughter was born prematurely at 26 weeks, I was on bedrest my entire pregnancy with our first son (2.5 months of which were spent in the hospital), and we adopted our second son through foster care. I know there are many ways to start a family, and none of them are easy. I want to be the adaptive support families need to thrive! I'd love to share my compassion, knowledge and experience to make the transition into parenthood a smoother one!
In American culture, support during and after birth is not often given or expected. Parents are supposed to just know what to do and deal with issues alone. That's not the way things used to be. As we move farther and farther from these traditions, there are more and more cases of Postapartum and Post-adoption depression. Studies have proven that an increase of support during these emotional times, decreases the chances of depression occurring. Parenthood isn't easy, but you don't have to feel lost and alone! I'll adapt my care to what suits you and your family best. I'll provide you with factual advice, and allow your intuition as parents to flourish. No matter the season you're in, whether you are a first-time parent, or have other children in the home, support is never a bad idea, and I'm here for you!
